Character Information
Name: Daia
Canon: Daia Game
Canon Point: Right after being held captive by Shishou to be trafficked, before Kuro comes bursting in to save him.
OU/AU/CRAU/OC: OU, though I would like him to retain his memories of when he was last on the VoidTrecker.
Age: Looks to be in his teens, but is around 100.
World Information: Identical to the Victorian/Meiji era, though becomes modern in the epilogue. Daia starts in London and comes to Japan to try and live in peace. There are beings as vampires, and an organization that continues to hunt them down called Hunters. Vampires are trademarked by their golden eyes and are immortal, seemingly the only abnormal species in this otherwise normal world.
Personal History: Daia grew up often secluded from others. Though it isn't determined how long his parents have been dead, being killed off by Hunters, he has been alone for a very long time. He grew up being called a monster by anyone who discovered he was a vampire, even though he never killed a human, and they would run him out of town and send the Hunters after him. Daia met Kuro, an Elite Vampire Hunter, ten years ago, when a bunch of Hunters were looking for the vampire. When Kuro saw him, he protected Daia, covering him in the length of his trench coat when other Hunters came up. He tells the other Hunters that the vampire isn't there, even mocking them for "losing" the vampire. When the Hunters leave, Kuro says that he thinks Daia is a very pretty vampire and asks if he's really thinking about running away. Daia, however, treats him coldly. Kuro tells Daia that if he doesn't want to die, he needs to stay away from the city, to not wander around at night, and to try to live a quiet life. Going forward, Kuro teaches Daia to get his blood from animals and provides even vials of his own blood for Daia. Even after all these years, Daia has never been able to understand what Kuro was thinking.
Daia flees from England to Japan, trying to escape the Hunters in order to live a life in peace. He learns passable Japanese from someone aboard the ship transporting them, and though there are still many terms he doesn't understand, he does his best to get by. Kuro finds Daia immediately after disembarking and teases him for trying to leave England unnoticed. Daia runs away to escape and Shishou, an innkeeper, sweeps Daia into his guard. After several the crowd passes, he says that he noticed Daia was being pursued. Shishou then offers for Daia to stay at his inn, rent free, if Daia does some shores around the place, which Daia eagerly accepts, having given no forethought to where he would stay. Daia considers this very lucky, as everyone else in Asia so far had avoided him because of his hair colour, thinking he was a foreigner. In the privacy of his own room, Daia tells himself that he thinks he's falling for Shishou because of the man's kindness.
After a long day of chores and stress, Daia becomes hungry and goes out that night to hunt for an animal to drink blood from. Shishou offers to go with him as protection from Kuro. Daia briefly considers changing Shishou into a vampire so he wouldn't be alone anymore. But Shishou's voice snaps him back out of his blood craving, and Daia rejects the offer of having Shishou with him, worried about being rejected if Shishou should find he's a vampire. When he goes out, Kuro finds Daia and comments on the new home that Daia has found. Kuro praises Daia for not having bitten the innkeeper, and pets Daia. Daia slaps his hand away angrily, frustrated with what Kuro said. Kuro snarls at Daia, asking if he wants to be killed like this, because the Hunters are still after him. He promises not to kill Daia as long as he doesn't hurt anyone. Daia believes that Kuro will break that promise eventually, since Kuro was ordered to kill him.
Kuro pulls a vial of his own blood out of his cloak and hands it to Daia, telling him to drink it, saying it's his job to keep an eye on Daia, and saying he's very serious about his work. Daia calls him out on using the funds to go womanizing. Kuro asks if that means Daia wants to sleep with girls, too, but comments that Daia is "too young". When Daia says he isnβt interested in men, Kuro teases Daia for being a virgin, then says that he actually admires Daia's attempts to stay pure as he takes his leave. Daia drinks the vial of blood given to him and heads back to the inn.
Daia works enthusiastically at his chores, hoping that Shishou will praise him. He even thinks about cooking dinner for Shishou, even though he's never cooked before. At the end of all the chores for the day, Shishou thanks Daia for all of his help, but then asks if Daia has any family members worried about him. Daia says he's been alone for a long time. Shishou pets Daia, saying it must have been painful, then kisses Daia on the forehead. He promises he won't leave Daia alone and begins leaning in for a kiss, but one of Shishou's employees walks in, asking for Shishou to come sign a receipt. As Shishou walks away, Daia wonders to himself if he should turn Shishou into a vampire, and ultimately resolves to do so.
That night, he enters Shishou's room after he's fallen asleep. As he leans in to bite Shishou, a thrown blade flies by his ear from Kuro, stopping Daia from biting. Daia grabs the knife and goes outside to meet the Hunter. Kuro calls Daia a monster, saying he's finally shown his true colours, and starts to fight him. Daia runs, but Kuro corners him quickly, and Daia tries to use the knife he's holding for defense. But Kuro easily knocks it aside and pins Daia to a tree, holding a knife to Daia's throat, but then he hesitates. Daia tells him to kill him already, but Kuro just scoffs and leaves instead. Daia is left wondering why, as he knows he was the one in the wrong and Kuro had every right to kill him, and the expression Kuro had when he told him to kill him. Shishou then finds Daia outside, and Daia quickly hides the knife in his possession. Shishou asks who the other person was just now, and Daia says he didn't notice anyone else. Shishou says that it's dangerous to be outside at night alone and asks if Daia is alright. They lean in to kiss again, but the memory of Kuro's expression before he left causes Daia to jolt away and just lean against Shishou's chest instead. He says he's alright and tells Shishou not to worry about him. Shishou says they should try to get some sleep, then.
Since that night, Kuro doesn't approach Daia anymore. This causes Daia to feel uneasy, probably because Kuro has always been there for him until now. He goes out to find Kuro on his own, with the knife in hand. He finds Kuro at a shrine, and Kuro asks if that means he's ready to die. Daia says he knows that this will be the end and that if Kuro won't kill him, then he will kill Kuro, having come with that objective in mind. Even after being overpowered, Daia begs to know why Kuro won't kill him, saying that he feels so strange because Kuro is so gentle with him. Kuro growls and Daia asks if Kuro hates him. Kuro says he does and Daia tells him to hurry up and kill him, because he's tired of being alone. But then, Kuro says that Daia isn't alone, and the two end up kissing and sleeping together. Afterwards, Daia says he needs to return home or Shishou will be worried, but Kuro tries to stop him, saying that Shishou makes more money than he should, and so Kuro investigated and found out that Shishou is in human trafficking. Daia calls him a liar, but Kuro says he isn't lying.
Daia asks how Kuro can suspect him to believe that after all this time. Kuro says he opted to keep silent because he saw that Daia liked him. But Daia insists that this is impossible and goes running back to Shishou. He finds Shishou discussing things with a handful of other men, and he asks to talk to Shishou. But Shishou asks what Daia did with Kuro, and a man captures Daia from behind, tying his wrists as Daia struggles. Shishou looks over Daia's body and mentions that it's good that Daia didn't get hurt or have any marks, as vampires are worth a lot of money, saying he could tell right away that Daia was a vampire because of his eyes. Daia fearfully asks if it's true that Shishou is a human trafficker then. Shishou confirms and Daia lashes out, trying to bite him, but Shishou backs away, calling Daia a wild animal. He tells the others to lock Daia up in the storage room for now.
Daia starts to cry about how Shishou's kindness was all a lie, and Kuro dashes in to stop Shishou, scolding Daia for to jumping in without thinking first. He calls Shishou and his troop "monsters hiding under human skin" as the other traffickers move forward to deal with him. Daia begs them to stop, and Shishou shoves Daia to a corner to make sure the vampire doesn't get caught in the scuffle. However, Kuro makes quick work of the other traffickers. Shishou holds a knife to Daia's throat to make Kuro comply and one of the traffickers gets back up, beating Kuro without any retaliation. As Daia watches Kuro get beat up and listens to Shishou snicker, Daia decides at that moment that he just can't stand there and watch, shouting as he flings the back of his head into Shishou's face.
After Shishou collapses, though, Daia shrinks in a corner, crying a little over how much that hurt. Kuro uses this opportunity to scoop Daia up and start running away with him. He unties Daia and tells him to hold on tight, which Daia happily does. They escape to some backroads, and they catch their breath together. Daia asks if Kuro is okay. Kuro says that if he couldn't handle that much, then he wouldn't be fit to be a Hunter. At the word "Hunter", Daia lowers his head and says he ended up alone again after all. Kuro points out that Daia sure gets attached to anyone treating him nicely, and how naive Daia is, even though he's lived such a long time. He says there's no helping it, and that he'll stay by Daia's side forever, that he's already prepared to live the rest of his life with Daia. Kuro gives Daia permission to bite him and turn him into a vampire, saying he loves Daia. They travel together to stay ahead of the Hunters and Kuro says that, no matter where Daia goes, he will follow him forever.
A large handful of years in the future, Daia is sitting in a park in Japan, and comments to himself that there are too many people. A couple of passerby walk up to him, asking if he would like to go on a date with them, as he seems so pretty. They believe Daia's eyes are gold from coloured contacts. Daia's innocence gets the better of him, and he starts responding to questions from them. But Kuro steps in, asking if they have any business with his companion, as he grabs them by the wrist. Daia asks Kuro where he was, saying he was looking all over for him. When Daia uses "boku" for "I", the strangers suddenly realise they approached a guy instead of a girl, stunned at how cute he is. Kuro points out that he can't leave Daia alone for even a few moments and tells Daia to be more conscious of being targeted by other males. Daia thinks he means other Hunters and expresses concern at attracting Hunters, but Kuro says he has it handled, and Daia believes him. Daia thanks Kuro for all his years of protection. He says that Kuro has always been his knight and that he loves him with a smile, nuzzling against him.
Personality: Daia tends to be a naΓ―ve individual, trusting too easily in others. He has somehow managed to not become jaded and has kept his childlike innocence in even over a hundred years of life. He doesn't tend to question another's motive. If they accept him, he jumps into the acceptance. This is particularly seen with Shishou, a stranger who offers him a place to stay without charging him. Daia doesn't once question this, and even begins to think of Shishou romantically right away. Meaning he takes things at first impressions. And if someone treats him kindly, he will have no hesitation to be particularly open with them.
That's not to say that he's willing to reveal his personal species, a vampire. Being chased by Hunters, personal experiences, and Kuro's advice have guided him to this. Experiencing villages of people, he's had to learn how to lay low at least a little. Once humans would discover he was a vampire, he would often be run out of town and the Hunters would be alerted to his location, pursuing him again. This leads him often to lying, and trying to dodge certain questions, like when Shishou asked who Kuro was, Daia said he noticed no one. Or dodges the question when Shishou asks to accompany him when Daia heads out for the night to find blood.
He has no intention of hurting humans just to get the blood he needs. He hunts animals, and Kuro backs him up in tight spots regularly. Although Kuro's contract with him is that he won't be killed so long as he doesn't hurt humans or make new vampires appear, Daia has never really wanted to hurt another before just because he needs food. The only reason he really finds for wanting to bite a human is so he won't be alone anymore in his years of immortality.
He tends to be very gracious when he does get to interact with humans. He goes out of his way to learn another language, and even says "thank you" when he hears others talking about him, even if he doesn't always understand. Such as when he arrives in Japan for the first time, they're talking about his hair colour, but he doesn't understand "Silver Hair" in Japanese yet. However, realising they're talking about him with other context clues, he thanks them, and wonders after what they mean by "Silver Hair". He does continue to learn Japanese, even far in the future, to better communicate.
Daia has an eagerness to please, and thus works very hard to help others if he finds himself given the chance. This is even more amplified when he feels an attraction to the person he's trying to please. When he was given chores by Shishou to do in order to stay at the inn, he leaves nothing lacking, cleaning everything from top to bottom. He absolutely loves praise, and receiving it easily encourages him to keep going. He never seems to mind working himself to the bone, except for of course running into crucifixes. Even still, he looks forward to praise and gratuity from Shishou later, seemingly one of his main motivations.
Daia is actually very lonely, and it shows constantly throughout the series. He always laments how he can't stand losing anyone else - from potential partners or friends to his parents. He longs to hold someone close and to be able to stay with them forever. It's what makes him want to reveal to Shishou that he's a vampire, in the hopes that he will be accepted for who he is, as well as wanting to turn Shishou into one on that same hope. And, in the end, he turns Kuro into a vampire with his consent so they can spend their immortality together. He aches when he can't keep someone, even if it's just because the other doesn't have a long life span. He's also hurt so very easily when he finds out that someone he trusted deceived him.
Daia's naivete can easily get him into trouble. His one-track mind had him flee to Japan without any consideration to where he would live. He relies very much on the kindness of others and doesn't seem to think on how this could backfire on him. He relies on Kuro for blood often and is only too eager to accept Shishou's living accommodations. He even becomes so overly trusting, that he doubts Kuro when he's told that Shishou is a human trafficker, running back to see the innkeeper. He didn't even give a moment's thought that Shishou would be such an awful person, much less what he would do when he was captured. Daia wished to talk it out first, and wanted to prove Kuro wrong, as he cared so much for Shishou.
However, Daia can have a fierce level of determination. It's difficult to trigger his temper, unless it's caused by Kuro who knows how to push his buttons. Otherwise, it only comes out when he's betrayed or when one he cares about is in danger. He's called Kuro a liar over Shishou, but he also was willing to fight back against Shishou when Kuro was in danger. He may be prone to being the victim, but he will fight against it when something he values is on the line, even though he knows he isn't strong.
Overall, Daia is a very positive individual. He sees the better side of people and trusts very easily. He's curious and easily amused, always enjoying things that are new to him. He loves to be able to help others, and to be accepted, despite what he is. He even says he considers himself to be human at one point, minus all the things that denote him being a vampire. He works hard and desires companionship and, if given that much, is extremely loyal.
Key themes: Wanting a mate
Travelling
Determination to do his best
Main Motivation:To find someone to love and live in peace.
Skills:Toxicity: The toxin excreted from a vampire's fangs causes their victims to become puppets to the vampire. But if a vampire bites their victim multiple times, they will start to become vampires themselves. However, most beings can't endure the change, and end up becoming monsters instead, ruled by their vampire. Should a human endure the change, they will become a free-thinking vampire.
Immortality: Vampires can live indefinitely, if they aren't killed off. They also seem to age much more slowly, given that Daia still looks remarkably young for being in his hundreds.
Drinking Blood: Like all vampires, Daia drinks blood. He seems to survive solely on it. For distinction purposes, I headcanon him not being able to eat food when he needs blood as it won't satisfy him in the least, but can eat and drink normal foods and drinks for pleasure when he's sated.
Cleaning: Daia has shown a high proficiency in being able to do chores and keep things clean. He's especially thrilled to do this for anyone who is kind to him.
Weaknesses: He can handle garlic and sunlight, but crucifixes can actually kill him. He's also weak in the physical department, and thus is easily overpowered. He might also be bad at cooking, not being experienced in it.
Ear-like Hair Tufts: Daia has hair tufts that resemble cats ears, and actually move as such in response to his emotions. No one knows how this is possible, even Daia doesn't seem to realise it. Daia's "normal ears" are never seen, either.
Item: Neck ribbonRenΓ©, a Japanese dwarf flying squirrel he bought previously in his time here.

Kaiba's prayer to him from back in April of last year:
"You helped me through a lot. I hope you're safe and happy now. Thank you for everything, and I hope everyone's accepting you and treating you well. And that you find someone who can be the partner you deserve." as if it were in a dream before he wakes on the platform when he returns. I did run it by Zoki, Kaiba's player, and they said they were fine with it. But, of course, it's ultimately up to the mods if I can or can't. Either way is fine <3
