A vampire from Victorian England, Daia has been pursued by hunters all of his life. Especially by a specific hunter, Kuro, who has taught him how to hide his vampiric tendencies to help Daia fit into society more. Things such as only drinking animals' blood, and learning to be out during the day. Kuro has resolved to not kill Daia unless he attacks a human but constantly torments him. Daia tries to escape the hunters by fleeing to Japan. However, Kuro manages to follow him there. As Daia tries to outrun him, he runs into Shishou, an innkeeper, who offers to take him in. Daia helps run the inn and develops strong feelings for Shishou. However, Kuro keeps interrupting him and telling him not to bite Shishou. Daia assumes this is because his bite can create slaves and even other vampires. However, in a moment of desperation and a wish to no longer be alone, Daia tries to bite Shishou while he's sleeping, and Kuro intervenes. After a fight between Kuro and Daia, Kuro tells Daia that Shishou is a human trafficker. Daia doesn't believe him and runs to Shishou, only to find out it's true and that Shishou planned to sell him all along. Shishou and his men capture Daia and Daia is devastated.
.
Canon Point: Canon: Right after being held captive by Shishou to be trafficked, before Kuro comes bursting in to save him. CRAU: End of VoidTreckers.
Canon Iteration: CRAU
Canon Iteration Explanation: Daia was transported to VoidTreckers shortly after being captured by Shishou, which means that he never knew that Kuro came to save him, much less live in their Happy-Ever-After. Daia arrived on the train, and made friends with many. Daia came to be accepted for who he was and not his species, and developed multiple crushes while trying to help on missions to save other worlds and planetary systems. Daia began to struggle at coping with his limitations, feeling others were more able to do things he could never dream. Technology being something he's unfamiliar with, not being strong in combat, and coming to feel like being moral support only did so much.
Eventually, his tether to the train grew weak and he disappeared for six months. When the tether reformed and Daia was pulled back, he felt like he was just there yesterday, but those that missed him the most told him how long he was gone and how much they cared. Daia began to feel wanted and even important to his friends, and while he struggled with being gone so long without any knowledge of it, he was glad he could come back and ease his friends' worries. He decided to devote himself to restoring tethers and helping to save the universe from the World Eaters. Shortly after returning, he met a very cute boy who he developed a very strong crush on: Esteban. The two shared an awkward song and dance of their feelings for each other, trying to emphasise to themselves how they had just met and to hold off on their feelings, all the while finding it more and more difficult to try and resist them. Daia pulls himself together in the final mission to combat, and eventually destroy, the World Eaters. Afterwards, the Train allows the tenants to either return to their home planets or remain as Voidtreckers travelling acrost the universes to serve other worlds. But staying on the Train would mean "dying" in their home world in another form. Daia, not feeling he had anything to return to at home, stayed on the Voidtrecker Express. However, he encouraged Esteban to go home, so that his family wouldn't mourn Esteban's death. Daia promised to visit between journeys and to keep Esteban's hoodie warm until his proper return.

★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★
Skills:
Cleaning: Daia has shown a high proficiency in being able to do chores and keep things clean. He's especially thrilled to do this for anyone who is kind to him.
Learning to cook: Daia started to learn cooking while on the train and can at least make basic foods. Baking cookies is his favourite, because he can actually do them well.
Bilingual: Daia shows a willingness to learn new languages (and an easy ability to do so, as he learnt Japanese on a ship on his way to Japan), and speaks Japanese and (Victorian) English fluently.
Canon Abilities:
Toxicity: The toxin excreted from a vampire's fangs causes their victims to become puppets to the vampire. But if a vampire bites their victim multiple times, they will start to become vampires themselves. However, most beings can't endure the change, and end up becoming monsters instead, ruled by their vampire. Should a human endure the change, they will become a free-thinking vampire.
Immortality: Vampires can live indefinitely, if they aren't killed off. They also seem to age much more slowly, given that Daia still looks remarkably young for being in his hundreds.
Drinking Blood: Like all vampires, Daia drinks blood. He seems to survive solely on it. He's able to eat normal food when he needs blood as it won't satisfy him in the least, but can eat and drink normal foods and drinks for pleasure when he's sated.
Weaknesses: He can handle garlic and sunlight, but crucifixes can actually kill him. He's also weak in the physical department, and thus is easily overpowered.
Ear-like Hair Tufts: Daia has hair tufts that resemble cats ears, and actually move as such in response to his emotions. No one knows how this is possible, even Daia doesn't seem to realise it. Daia's "normal ears" are never seen, either. (Gentle joking headcanon is that purebloods have cat ears and no one told him that's what they were)
Role: Legend
Role Qualities/Attributes: Small, silver wings that he can't use to fly and feathers strewn throughout his hair that are attached. (Pretend the feathers in his hair are the same colour as the wings. I'm too lazy to colour anymore).
Role Reasoning: Daia is sweet and makes an effort to do the right thing. Living a life where he's used to being rejected and judged simply for his species has been something that was always tough for him to deal with. But living with others that truly accepted him and loved him, he came to realise that doing what was right would always be best. He strove to save worlds and universes from something that could just as easily spell his, and his friends', ends right there. Occasionally he's selfish, but overall, he cares for others and wants to nurture them and be there for them.
★ Personality ★
Option 1.
Daia tends to be a naïve individual, trusting too easily in others. He has somehow managed to not become jaded and has kept his childlike innocence in even over a hundred years of life. He doesn't tend to question another's motive. If they accept him, he jumps into the acceptance. He takes things at first impressions. And if someone treats him kindly, he will have no hesitation to be particularly open with them. Daia's naivete can easily get him into trouble. His one-track mind had him flee to Japan without any consideration to where he would live. He relies very much on the kindness of others and doesn't seem to think on how this could backfire on him. He even becomes so overly trusting, that he doubts Kuro when he's told that Shishou is a human trafficker, running back to see the innkeeper. He didn't even give a moment's thought that Shishou would be such an awful person, much less what he would do when he was captured. Daia wished to talk it out first, and wanted to prove Kuro wrong, as he cared so much for Shishou.
However, he's not particularly willing to reveal his personal species, vampire. Being chased by Hunters, personal experiences, and Kuro's advice have guided him to this. Experiencing villages of people, he's had to learn how to lay low at least a little. Once humans would discover he was a vampire, he would often be run out of town and the Hunters would be alerted to his location, pursuing him again. This leads him often to lying, though he's bad at it, and trying to dodge questions.
He has no intention of hurting humans just to get the blood he needs. He hunts animals. The only reason he really finds for wanting to bite a human is so he won't be alone anymore in his years of immortality. He tends to be very gracious when he does get to interact with humans. He goes out of his way to learn another language, and even says "thank you" when he hears others talking about him, even if he doesn't always understand. Daia has an eagerness to please, working very hard to help others if he finds himself given the chance. He absolutely loves praise, and receiving it easily encourages him to keep going as one of his main motivations.
Daia is actually very lonely, and it shows constantly throughout the series. He always laments how he can't stand losing anyone else - from potential partners or friends to his parents. He longs to hold someone close and to be able to stay with them forever. He aches when he can't keep someone, even if it's just because the other doesn't have a long life span. He's also hurt so very easily when he finds out that someone he trusted deceived him.
However, Daia can have a fierce level of determination. It's difficult to trigger his temper, unless it's caused by Kuro who knows how to push his buttons. Otherwise, it only comes out when he's betrayed or when one he cares about is in danger. He's called Kuro a liar over Shishou, but he also was willing to fight back against Shishou when Kuro was in danger. He may be prone to being the victim, but he will fight against it when something he values is on the line, even though he knows he isn't strong.
Daia's growth in VoidTreckers had him coming to learn and believe in others, that he could rely on them. That love didn't have to just come from romantic partners, but it could come from friendships as well. This acceptance and its proof thereof gave him the will to fight back and do his best, even if he was uncertain he could contribute anything. He learns to accept that people come and go, but that doesn't mean it's the end of the love they had. He supports others as they support him.
Overall, Daia is a very positive individual. He sees the better side of people and trusts very easily. He's curious and easily amused, always enjoying things that are new to him. He loves to be able to help others, and to be accepted, despite what he is. He even says he considers himself to be human at one point, minus all the things that denote him being a vampire. He works hard and desires companionship and, if given that much, is extremely loyal.
Daia's potential lies in further awakening that he is capable and strong without having to be physically so. He's a reliable shoulder for others and a source of positivity. He's very caring, and will come to realise he wants to share his love with everyone, mortal or immortal, friendship and romantic, with everyone.
